I was born in Atlanta, Ga on May 24 to Larry and Carol Newsome.  Growing up my dad worked for an airline and due to many changes with the company we moved all over the country ALOT!  Needless to say I ended up going to 4 different high schools in 4 years!  It was hard to get involved in sports or anything for that matter so I never pursued any physical sports during my high school years.  I had always wanted to do some form of athletics, but felt I never had enough time to get involved.

Not long after high school I followed in my dad's footsteps and went to work for the same airline as a flight attendant.  I loved travelling the country for a time and made some long lasting friendships.  Not long into my career I took a vacation to Florida and met a great guy who now happens to be my wonderful husband!  We have been married for over 12 years and have a beautiful son together.  To me my son is my greatest accomplishment and always will be.  The fact that he was over 10lbs at birth and that I gave birth to him still amazes me to this day!

During my pregnancy I gained a whopping 75 pounds!  Now even for me at my height that was way too much!  Needless to say, I had my work cut out for me with all that weight to lose.  So, after six months of trying on my own I finally joined a local gym and hit the aerobics!  Day after day I would go in and just take aerobics class after aerobics class.  And, alot of healthy folks might say WOW that's great and for a time it was.  I did lose all the weight and felt great, but I still lacked that tight and toned, more fit look I wanted.   I wasn't sure what to do so I just did more of the same...aerobics!  Like alot of other women I was deathly afraid of lifting those weights for fear I would get "big".

After many more years of this vicious cycle I finally came to my senses.  A friend of mine introduced me to Oxygen magazine and after seeing these beautiful women and learning they actually lifted weights and lifted heavier weights I decided to start training with weights  and I loved it!  I love it to this very day.  It wasn't until around 2003-2004 I decided to seriously start training for a figure competition.  My girlfriend and I decided to train together and we set our sights on a show in May of 2005.

Stepping into the Big League...

A few months into training a girl came to me and said she'd heard I was training for a figure show and wanted to know if I was serious.  I told her I was and she told me she wanted to introduce me to her trainer, Chris Eaddy.  At the time, I hadn't really thought much of hiring a trainer, much less one who trains 1 hour away from where I live.  Nonetheless, I went to meet him anyway and after talking with him I decided right then and there to make him my trainer.  He is still my trainer to this day!  And, the girl that introduced me to him is now one of my best friends needless to say!

Chris had eventually introduced me to IFBB Figure Pro Marcy Porter and she was my saving grace when it came to learning how to pose.  I am so grateful for both Chris and Marcy!  With their coaching and training I went on in 2005 to compete in 4 figure competitions, taking the overall title in 2 of those 4 competitions and first in my class in 3 of the shows.  My final show qualified me to go on and compete at the National level and it is an honor to be able to say I am an NPC National level figure competitor.  This year my goal is to earn my pro card.  My first show will be in Charleston, SC at the NPC Jr. USA's!  I

I feel like I am living a dream and don't take any of this for granted.   I am having the time of my life and want to encourage all women out there of any age to believe in themselves, set a goal and don't let anyone tell you that you can't!
